Matchplay restrictions
The higher rated player faces constraints that directly affect shot selection — rally quality stays high and both players perform at their best.
SquashEquals applies matchplay restrictions to level rallies and improve decision-making — then uses points to smoothly fine-tune the last small differences, ensuring enjoyable and equalised game play.
Not “spot a few points and hope”. Squash Equals is designed to make play in the rally fun, competitive, intense and meaningful for practise.
The higher rated player faces constraints that directly affect shot selection — rally quality stays high and both players perform at their best.
Restrictions are grouped into five+ colour tiers so players can quickly find their level and start playing.
After match play equalisation, small remaining differences are smoothed with a points adjustment.

Read what our users and club customers have to say:
“I’ve never played an equalisation method that has worked so well, where players of vastly different experience can actually try their hardest whilst still playing good quality squash and have fantastic rallies. It was also a great way to meet new people and play against those I would not normally have the chance to hit with.”
“We engaged the team from SquashEquals to run an equalised tournament for our squash club, with the aim of letting players of different levels compete on equal footing and socialise outside their usual grades, without using a standard score-only handicap. The team were excellent to work with, taking the time to understand our needs and going above and beyond to organise teams, equalisations, and tailor the scoring app. We filled all 32 spots and received overwhelmingly positive feedback, with players loving the chance to compete against others they wouldn’t normally face. I highly recommend SquashEquals and hope every squash club gets the chance to use it!”
